OpenAI describes GPT‑6 Astra as its most capable model for complex end-to-end work. The technical page lists text and image input, a 1.05-million-token context window and up to 128,000 output tokens.

In the Responses API the model can use web search, file search, code interpreter, hosted shell, computer use, MCP and custom tools. For scientific and industrial work, the relevant capability is joining reading, analysis, action and documentation into one workflow.

Tool access does not guarantee a correct result. Evidence, permissions, sensitive data, numerical outputs and high-impact decisions require use-case testing, logging and human review.

Why it matters

For scouting, document comparison and R&D analysis, the useful step is completing traceable operational sequences rather than winning one benchmark.

Evidence limit

Specifications and performance are provider claims. Each company must validate quality, cost, data protection, errors and oversight in its own process.
